Welcome to Fly Casting Skills & Drills
Saltwater Skills Ladder
As many contemporary anglers know, fly fishing is an effective technique for catching a variety of exciting saltwater species around the globe. The exercises described in this material focus primarily on fly casting from the bow of a technical flats skiff traditionally pushed by a guide on a poling platform at the stern of the boat, a scenario chosen because it combines many of the most challenging aspects of saltwater fly fishing: making quick, accurate casts to fast-moving targets from a moving platform, dealing with wind, and not hooking the guide, among others.
