Mallard roof
three approaches to mounting
Wayne Luallen

When applied to full dress Atlantic salmon fly wings a “roof” made from a Mallard duck’s brown scapular feather barbs adds a certain elegance, but can be a challenge to mount. There are three typical approaches:

  • Separate right and left strip

  • Paired right and left strips

  • Single folded strip

Read the article to learn more about the three approaches.
