Waters Where I Provide Guiding Services: Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Baja, Yucatan and Belize.
Jamie Briscoe’s guiding career began in the blue waters of Baja in 1989. After having spent his youth surfing and fishing in the ocean, the mountains called him to Sun Valley, Idaho in 1992 where he began guiding fly fishing trips in the freestone and spring creek venues. He still guides there today.
During relocation to the Pacific Northwest in 2000, Jamie melted into the spey world and took up a guiding gig that would always keep him behind the oars, close to big water and swinging flies for anadromous species. He says that will never change. “Spending 6 years guiding out of a drift boat on the Deschutes was my calling. I blame it for my boating addiction.”
Even with 27 years of guiding behind him, Briscoe is still extremely enthusiastic about teaching. As the son of a veteran Navy UDT/SEAL and grandson of a Navy pilot, he is actively involved in assisting the military with outdoor sports. He is a teammate of he Word of Honor Fund: a continuum facilitating events for the surviving children of SEALs and Special Ops personnel who die while assigned to a select Naval Special Operations Group. He is also aligned withHigher Ground Military, giving injured Service members the physical skills, confidence, and coping strategies necessary for a successful reintegration into their families and home communities. It is in this venue where Jamie’s teaching style and human interactive skills are fully appreciated.
Jamie is also an avid bird hunter, guiding upland and waterfowl trips and often including fly fishing for a true cast & blast experience. He recently started The Cast & Blast Coach, a virtual guiding tool enabling anglers and hunters to better their technique through proprietary mobile video coaching.
Briscoe is a pro for Hatch Fly Reels, Howler Brothers clothing, Astral footwear & PFD’s, and RO Drift Boats to name a few. He has obtained his CCI (Certified Casting Instructor) through Fly Fishers International and is a shooting instructor for the National Sporting Clays Association. He lives in Sun Valley Idaho where he sells real estate, guides, skis & hunts.
