Fly Fishing Academy

Formally known as the Northwest Youth Conservation and Fly Fishing Academy, this summer camp for boys and girls between the ages of 12 - 16  is much more than how to use a fly rod and tie a wooley bugger.   The academy dorms are on a 4 acre private/stocked lake and a short drive to local trout streams.  Students  will enjoy  26 classes beyond tying six flies and enjoying days of casting classes. Activities and classes cover everything from what fly to use,  basic entomology, lake and river tactics, fish biology, invasive species, radio telemetry and barriers to fish passage as well as learning the importance of maintaining and improving our fisheries.

Since 2002 the academy experience has propelled students on a journey that created more confident and effective fly fishers as well as creating future conservation stewards of the aquatic.   Take a look around our website and discover that $750 invested in a week of fly fishing education and fun is an investment in your future as a conservationist and a qualified fisher of flies.   The academy is a non profit program of the Washington Council of Trout Unlimited.  We already have 11 applicants for the 18 positions at this years academy but none have been formally accepted as of Feb 1 but time is running out to apply.  Young ladies are encouraged to apply and scholorships are available upon request.  Visit our website and apply at: Flyfish.academy
