DRiFT Casting Program 2024

Event Date: July 13, 2024, 10:00 AM - July 13, 2024, 12:00 PM Export event

DuPage Rivers Fly Tyers (DRiFT) will provide free fly casting instruction on Saturdays in May, June and July 2024. We meet on non-holiday Saturdays from 10 am to noon. The location is the east side of the Fox River at Batavia Overseas VFW Post 1197. Casting is done on grass and on the river. Refer to driftorg.com for the schedule and updates.

The DRiFT casting program was started by Arthur “Doc” Mazzier MCI in 2005. Jim Green MCI FFF CBOG, taught Doc his casting craft and the value of free casting lessons to promote the sport. We benefitted from his generosity and continue this tradition. Single Hand instructors are Joseph Merriell CI, Alan Kato CI, Edward Dahmer, Darwin Adams, and John Frantzen. Equipment setup, beginner, intermediate, and advanced casting instruction are available. Two hand casting instructors are Douglas Taylor Sage Elite Pro Staff, and John Rodelli.  Equipment setup, line matching advice, Spey, Scandi, Skagit, and Trout Spey casting instruction are available.

Our goal is to provide instruction to improve fly casting and fly fishing success. We promote the FFI Fly Skills Development (FCSD) program. The FCSD program is an excellent structure for casting skill improvement and evaluation.

We strive to continue the high quality and proud tradition of DRiFT casting. We ask those that find benefit in our program to donate and or become members of DRiFT.
