IFFF Provides Fly Fishing Education in Florida
An IFFF-sponsored Introduction to Fly Fishing was recently offered to all Tampa Bay area residents interested in fly fishing. Fifteen people attended the second class. The program was designed to be an introduction to fly fishing and included topics on history, fly fishing equipment, knots, where fish live and what they eat, flies, some casting exercises (using a paint brush and water and noodles for the casting stroke), form rods for grass casting drills, conservation, and safety on the water and with the rod. The students were paired and interacted after each discussion of the topic.

Upper Midwest Councils Holds Fly Fishing School
The Upper Midwest Council is offering a fly fishing school over the weekend of July 22-24, 2016 in the Rochester Minnesota area. This is the 2
nd annual fly fishing school held at the Rochester Community & Technical College. The UMC fly fishing school offers the opportunity to learn all things about fly fishing from beginning to advanced. Those attending will be able to learn and enhance their fly tying skill, fly casting ability, and how to skills regarding knots, fly lines and leaders. Instructors are all experienced fly fishers and casting instructors are all certified the IFFF. Bristol Bay Update
IFFF continues to support protection of Bristol Bay in Alaska. Recently the Federation joined forces with other organizations to call upon Congress to keep protections in place. Click here to read the letter>>
IFFF Voices Concerns over Asphalt Operation near Yellowstone River
On June 20, Montana DEQ hosted a public meeting to discuss the location of a gravel pit and asphalt mine near Yellowstone River. The proposed location is close to a tributary that feeds into the Yellowstone River. The IFFF submitted a letter of concern to the agency during public comment period. The Fly Tying Group extends an invitation to join the activities at the IFFF Fair to be held in LIvingston August 2-6, 2016. The annual meeting of the group will be held on August 2.
