IFFF & Council News


Tom Morgan Recognized by the IFFF

Recently the IFFF recognized Tom Morgan, former owner of R.L. Winston Rods and current owner of Tom Morgan Rodsmiths. with the Lee Wulff Award.  Mr. Morgan has contributed a great deal to the sport of fly fishing through his business ventures.  Len Zickler, President/CEO, recently presented Mr. Morgan with his award.  Watch the fall issue of the Flyfisher magazine for more details about Mr. Morgan's accomplishments.


New Orleans Fly Fishers Support Local Food Bank

Recently the New Orleans Fly Fishers hosted the 8th Annual Rio Rodeo and raised $400 for the local food bank.  With 32 fly fishers participating in the tournament, it was deemed a success. The money raised will allow Second Harvest Food Bank load HALF an 18 wheeler with food, to distribute to those in need. It is such a worthy donation to help New Orleans.

Conservation

Conservation Small Grant Has Impact in Washington
An IFFF conservation small grant to the Wenatchee Valley Fly Fishers helped secure over a mile of river access for the public in a recent joint venture spear-headed by Trout Unlimited and Wenatchee Valley Fly Fishers.  Efforts are underway to transfer the property to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife to provide public access for angling and other non-motorized recreation at the mile-long stretch of the Wenatchee River.  Click here to read the thank you letter>>

Conservation Grants Applications Due November 1

The Conservation Committee of the IFFF is soliciting applications for the Conservation Small Grants Program.  The IFFF has funded many projects over the years, including the Mulhern fish screen on the Shields River in Montana and the Sands Creek restoration project on the Delaware River in New York.  The small grant provides up to $1500 from the IFFF.  It requires the IFFF Council support for funding.  Click here for more details>>
