This year fly tiers will be the center of the Expo Hall – literally - the tying tables will be right in the middle of the action. There will be over 40 demonstrator tying slots on Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day with one shift change.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see a tremendous variety of fly tiers demonstrating Atlantic Salmon, Nymph, Saltwater, Streamer, Steelhead, Trout, Warm Water and numerous other specialty flies. The FFI Expo is all about fly fishing education and we’re excited to see Demonstration Tying the center of attention.
On Wednesday, July 24, the Fly Tying Group (FTG) invites everyone to attend the annual meeting, as well as the Rendezvous that afternoon with great food and raffles of fly tying materials. Be sure to drop by the FTG booth to find out what we are doing to preserve the art form of fly tying for all fly fishers.
There are some great fly tying workshops being offered this year, starting Tuesday and going through Saturday. Some offerings include the ever popular Tying Grant-Style Flies by Todd Collins & James Flaherty, Jim Ferguson is teaching his Classic Atlantic Salmon Fly Part 2: Bodies, Underwings & Throats, so you can beef up your skills in those areas. Scott Sanchez is going to offer Every Way to Tie Everyday Parachutes. Additional topics include beginning tying, how to be a better demonstrator, saltwater flies. Look in our “Other” workshop category offerings for how to clean and store tying materials by Wayne Luallen. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Expo!
